Action Equation Essay In studying the On Strategy system an effective tool is revealed that can help leaders from the CEO all the way down to the frontline supervisors become effective in leading the organization into the flow of the strategy that has been put into place. That tool is the Action Equation. This paper examines how the Action Equation is utilized by the effective leaders in the organization. During the course of effectively leading an organization or a team, those that are put in this position benefit from having their thinking focused on what the employees need to do to put the strategy to work. Then it progresses on to the thinking that sees to what the employees need to know and what they feel. This enables them to take the action that is required that causes the strategy to flourish (Matha Boehm, 2008). This is what the Action Equation can accomplish when put into action. This focusing of the leader’s thinking helps the employees understand what is required of them, why it is required and what benefits they will derive from the strategy. The use of a Conversation Platform makes it easier for leaders to remember the information that they need to communicate so that they can be in the moment. It is a delivery system that helps employees to listen and remember what leadership has laid out as a strategy (Matha Boehm, 2008, Chapter 7). The communication that is delivered through the Conversation Platform can be very effective at getting the point across. It can reflect on what the frontline employee sees in the strategy and what issues they have with the strategy. This will allow the leadership to attain a different viewpoint that they could not get if the conversations were not conducted with the employees. With the use of the People Channel, leaders can engage employees in conversations that keep them in the moment while delivering direction, perspective and information, all the while pulling feedback from the rank and file (Matha Boehm, 2008, Chapter 2). Keeping them in the moment will draw upon their true feeling about the strategy and what they have to say about the part they have to play in the grand scheme of things. In taking this course there is a greater appreciation for the development of an action plan that speaks to the employees so that they can grasp what is needed of them and why it is needed. Seeing the value of focusing the thinking of leadership into a plan that can be presented at every level of the organization allows a student of this course to develop an action equation that can fill in the gaps that cause their organization to sputter and fall short of the goals set by upper management. Conversations are truly the blood of setting up and executing a solid strategy. This tool can be put to use by a student of this course to get the team within the organization involved with creating processes that fit the needs of the team while allowing for greater production overall. The application of an Action Equation can be beneficial to an organization as it creates a greater level of buy-in while upgrading its ability to carry out strategies thought up by leadership. Explain how Golding describes the setting of the novel in chapters 1 and 2 of The Lord of The Flies Golding has a style of contrasting the good things and the bad things about the island in ‘The Lord of The Flies’. The author also describes the setting by using imagery extensively. The author develops a positive ambience of an uninhabited island by giving the island features that the reader knows are more positive than negative. An example of this is when the author describes a cirque on page 25. The author describes the boys position using: â€Å"They were on the lip of a cirque†. The use of personification makes the reader identify that the island is more like a person and not an evil thing. If Golding had used a sentence such as â€Å" They were on the knife edge of a cirque†, then the reader would have identified the island with images of danger and negativity. The author later similarises the cirque with a waterfall. He uses the words: â€Å"Filled†, â€Å"Overflow† and â€Å"Spilled† to make connections with a waterfall. A waterfall is usually a thing of beauty, which can be found in national parks, and people do not identify a waterfall as being a bad thing. The words also come in chronological order. For example something cannot be spilled before it is filled. This gives the reader a sense of natural series of events, the feeling as if everything is occurring the correct order and therefore the island is normal and passive. However, if the author had mixed the words in the incorrect order then the reader might have felt a bit confused and wondered about the safety of the island. In contrast, the author describes the island as the children’s worst enemy. On page 4 the author uses negative words to describe the setting. Golding uses the words; â€Å"Coarse†, â€Å"Torn†, â€Å"Upheavals†, â€Å"Fallen†, â€Å"Scattered† and â€Å"Decaying† to describe the shore and its contents. Under analysis the words, â€Å"Torn†, â€Å"Upheavals† and â€Å"Fallen†, mean that something is not in the correct position, that the island does not seem to be right, that the island has an air of animosity. The words are not pleasant words and hint to the reader that neither is the story. The author describes how the coconuts are slowly dying by using the word â€Å"decaying†. This poses the question: If things that live on the island cannot survive how can a group of young school boys from a different region? PSYCHOLOGY It is the study of Psyche. Psyche it mean mind or soul as it appear in human. It is the totality of the human mind, conscious, and unconscious. I always kept a close eye on my role models (my parents) and always tried to do anything they did. The skills I learn and the attitude I acquired from a young age would be of immense help to me in my later years. From the age of five, the memories I have are those of following my father around the yard watching feeding animals. My father would sometimes give me a small jar / container that I could help him feed the animal and although the job I did was insignificant and most likely not done properly, i always got a sense of pride and satisfaction in my work. In my teenage years my role around the house had changed. My father was no longer around and my mother had the pressure of providing for my younger brother and myself. During school holidays I was responsible for looking after my brother and keeping the amused at the same time, not an easy task at all. During this time I had also managed to get casual employment. Although the money I earn was not significant but it was enough for me to pay for my hobbies and ease some pressure off my mother. Now as an adult I have a steady job. I have never seen myself as a victim from anyone because all the good and bad experiences of my younger years it have helped me become a successful and determined person. The support that I received and continue to receive from my family was also a major drive for me to want to succeed as well. I think that everyone’s life is always full of good and bad experiences. The key is to appreciate the good and find a way of turning a negative situation into a positive. For example, when my father was no longer around it could have been seen to be a negative situation. However, learning to look after my brother and earning a little pocket money was perhaps the best and most useful experiences I had. In humans, growing up can be physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological. This means that a person becomes more mature as a result of changes in behavior, actions and thoughts that are experienced in the process of growing up. An individual’s character and personality are seen as very vital as they grow up. While growing up, there are many challenges that a person may come across, and the opportunities to become a good person are always there. Due to our uniqueness, we tend to express our beliefs, convictions, and thoughts differently. One very important attribute in relation to growing up is the physical development. Though physical development may not necessarily translate in to growing up, growing up is closely related to physical maturity. An individual is considered to grow up when they display good character and responsible behavior. The process of growing up is always accompanied by a certain level of transformation in an individual, where transformation either makes one a better person or a bad person. At some stage in our lives, we are expected to be changed through the process of growing up. The expectations of the others from us assist in cultivating our actions and behavior that show that we are grown up or we are growing up. An individual who practice self control and display good behavior is a good example of a person who is growing up. These attributes define a grown up person and if a person displays these attributes, the person can be said to be growing up towards the right direction. Discipline is very essential in achieving human fulfillment . Since a person who is growing up seeks this fulfillment, there is no doubt that the only way a person can achieve fulfillment is through discipline.
